Tesla will launch FSD 13 with reverse parking in time for the Robotaxi film studio demo
Tesla will use the sprawling Warner Bros. movie studio to unveil the Robotaxi on October 10, and its AI team just teased that the autonomous vehicle may launch with FSD 13.
The next major Full Self-Driving (Supervised) v13 update will be released in October, says Tesla. It has also been busy mapping out the area around Warner's studio in recent weeks, in obvious preparation for the Robotaxi demonstrations.
Besides, Tesla now teases features like reversing out or into a parking spot that will come to FSD in October, too. Together with the Actually Smart Summon that was released this week, the teased Park, Unpark, and Reverse features may be all the Robotaxi and Cybercab service will need to pick up and drop off passengers.
It remains to be seen if the FSD 13 update will go out to other Teslas, or if it will be reserved for the Robotaxi and whatever suite of cameras and sensors it is carrying. Tesla is just rolling out FSD 12.5 now to cars with both AI4 and Hardware 3.0 sets, so it might take time until FSD 13 hits existing Tesla vehicles.
The Full Self-Driving (Supervised) v13 update will bring a sixfold increase in the miles covered between interventions, says Tesla, though it doesn't specify in comparison to what. Alternatively, Tesla might have simply rebadged FSD v12.6, which Elon said will bring one intervention per year plus FSD approval in Europe and China, to v13 to mark the significant increase in miles between interventions.
As for the news around the FSD 12.5 rollout, Tesla will be bringing the update to the Cybertruck this month, together with the Autopark feature for the hulking pickup.
