OnePlus Nord 5-series smartphone tipped to launch with large battery, fast charging and significant design overhaul

OnePlus has a new affordable line of smartphones in the works for 2024 - according to the latest leaks, that is. Furthermore, despite falling into the tier below the more premium 12R, it is now tipped to integrate the device's brand-first 5,550mAh battery, which also supports the same 100W wired charging specs of the current flagship 12.

This new rumor comes courtesy of Digital Chat Station (DCS), who claims to have spotted a new device with the convincingly OPPO/OnePlus model number of PJF110 on official Chinese registries. The "5G smartphone" is now associated with a battery capacity of 2,680mAh.

That seems underwhelming; however, presuming it is of the OEM's dual-cell battery type (as DCS does), that number doubles to 5,360mAh - possibly to be scaled up to that marketing-friendly rated capacity value.

Accordingly, DCS now asserts that the 100W/5,500mAh "OnePlus Ace 3V" (the putative Chinese version of the Nord 5) will launch with a Snapdragon 7-series SoC, tipped to drive a "1.5K 8T LTPO" display (which, again, would be quite like that of the 12R) by fellow leaker Experience more.

While these specs might be welcome among Nord-series fans, the same device's appearance might not. New live images hint that it might help usher in a new era of OnePlus industrial design, in that its camera hump now looks most like that of the Meizu 21 - discrete ring-flash and all - albeit frankly less clean with a raised platform around its vertical triple rings.

Finally, additional leaks hint that, should there be CE and/or CE Lite versions of this new smartphone, they will launch with the same new look, perhaps even with a 3.5mm jack to go with it. All in all, OnePlus' Nord season might prove exceptionally interesting in 2024.
