OnePlus Nord 5 shows up on Geekbench with unexpected Qualcomm SoC

Until now, the OnePlus Nord 5 was widely believed to be based on the OnePlus Ace 5 Racing Edition, complete with a MediaTek Dimensity 9400e SoC. However, a new Geekbench listing reveals a surprising chipset that may be considered a downgrade.

The OnePlus Nord 5 (code name CPH2707) has shown up on the benchmarking platform with a Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 SoC, which is confirmed by its CPU core layout (1x Cortex-X4 at 3.01 GHz, 3x Cortex-A720 at 2.8 GHz and 4x Cortex-A520 at 2.0 GHz). It scores 1,977 and 5,090 points in Geekbench's single and multicore tests, about as much as other devices powered by the same SoC.

Other specs include 12 GB RAM and Android 15. Given just about every leaker got the SoC wrong, it is difficult to predict what the OnePlus Nord 5 has in store. Rumoured specs include a colossal 7,000 mAh battery with 100 Watt fast charging and a 1.5k 120 Hz OLED display. While the last-gen SoC is a bit of a disappointment, it will help keep costs low. Besides, it is still a powerful piece of hardware, enough for most day-to-day tasks.
