OnePlus will hold a product launch event on July 8th. One of the main events will be the OnePlus Nord 5, the company's flagship mid-ranger. Like previous models, the upcoming phone promises to offer an aggressive price-to-features ratio. Ahead of the official launch, OnePlus has revealed the camera specs of the OnePlus Nord 5, confirming both good and bad news.
OnePlus Nord 5: rear and front camera specs
The OnePlus Nord 5 will boast a dual rear camera setup led by a capable 50MP Sony LYT700 main sensor. This lens will be assisted by Optical Image Stabilization (OIS). If you're not aware, this is the same main camera setup as the OnePlus 13R, a pricier model. Additionally, the Nord 5 will inherit the flagship OnePlus 13's HDR algorithm, promising excellent dynamic range and vibrant shots for its price segment.
But here's the downside: a somewhat less exciting 8MP ultra-wide sensor will accompany the main lens. While functional, it's a bit disappointing to see OnePlus continue to stick to a relatively mediocre ultra-wide lens since the first model in the family. For a device aiming to impress, an 8MP ultra-wide often falls short of delivering the detailed, high-quality wide-angle shots users now expect.
Anyway, selfie lovers are in luck. The OnePlus Nord 5 is geared up with a robust 50MP Samsung JN5 front camera, equipped with Multi Focusing (auto-focus) tech. This should translate to sharp, detailed selfies.
It's noteworthy that both the front and rear cameras are also confirmed to support 4K video recording at 60 frames per second. This smooth, high-resolution video capture will turn the device into a pretty decent content creation tool.
Other expected specs
Beyond the camera array, the OnePlus Nord 5 is shaping up to be a compelling package. It's rumored to sport a large 6.83-inch 1.5K 144Hz flat OLED display, a sleek glass back, and an IP65 rating for dust and water resistance. Under the hood, we're expecting the powerful Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chip and a near-7000mAh battery, all housed within a plastic frame. The inclusion of a dedicated "Plus Key" for quick AI features, a first in the series, also stands out.
Overall, the OnePlus Nord 5's camera specs and capabilities, along with its other strong features, will position it as a solid offer for its price range, even though the ultra-wide lens might not steal the show.
