OnePlus has already claimed that its upcoming premium mid-range mobile flagship will be the "Smartest Nord Ever" thanks to upgrades to a Plus Key and AI features; now, the smartphone is also backed to be the "Fastest Nord Ever" with support for 144fps gaming.
The company claims that it can maintain such a frame-rate for up to 5 hours in Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI), or Call of Duty Mobile (CoDM) - albeit in its internal testing.
The results were based on gaming sessions with a 12GB RAM unit of the Nord 5 with its volume locked at 75 decibels (dB) and display brightness set at 280 nits.
Such performance also apparently requires that the games' graphics and frame-rate settings are turned up to the max, and that the Nord 5's Adaptive Frame Booster and Pro Gamer Mode features (presumably part of OxygenOS for the smartphone) are turned on.
The new teaser might seem a little ironic for some, as the 5 is thought to run on the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 SoC, even though the newer 8s Gen 4 is now available.
It might be a sign that the processor will drive a 144Hz display in the Nord 5 nonetheless.
OnePlus has also casually revealed that the screen will be of the up-to-date flat variety with a central punch-hole and slim, reasonably even, bezels on its July 2, 2025 launch.
