Realme's next mid-range smartphones had exhibited no sign of looking any different from their 13 Pro and Pro+ forebears in their leaks to date. Now, however, the brand has announced that will in fact ditch those devices' Monet Design for something more likely to set its latest number-series smartphones apart after all.
The 14 Pro Series are now being hyped as the "World's 1st Cold-Sensitive Color-Changing Design" devices on realme.in. The new selling point apparently consists of new photochromic technology that causes the smartphone's rear panels to gradually switch colors.
However, it seems the 14 Pro and Pro+ will undergo this reaction in response to cold rather than a factor such as light exposure. Accordingly, the brand's Indian fans might indeed have a chance to enjoy this new effect to its hilt, as the 14 Pro Series is now on track for a January 2025 debut in the country.
Its new "Thermo-Sensitive" Pearl Design is to be executed in swirling patterns, some of which get darker over time when the ambient temperature falls to 16°C (~61°F) or below, and will apparently vary somewhat from unit to unit.
Meanwhile, the legendary leaker Digital Chat Station now purports to confirm that the "IP68/69" 14 Pro+ will have a slightly different, more Honor Magic6-like, rear camera lay-out to go with its slim-bezel punch-hole display and Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chipset.
The Realme 13 Pro: now starting at INR 23,990 on Amazon.in
