Xiaomi 15 Ultra: New leak highlights camera upgrades of Xiaomi's next-gen powerhouse
Xiaomi is expected to debut the Xiaomi 15 series next month in China, with the Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 15 Pro set to be launched shortly after Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 announcement. The company's most premium next-gen smartphone will be the Xiaomi 15 Ultra, however, and a new leak has now revealed some details of the flagship's camera credentials.
As reported by leakers Yogesh Brar and Kartikey Singh, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra is set to land with a main camera superior to the LYT-900 sensor on the Xiaomi 14 Ultra (available on Amazon). If previous reports are anything to go by, this sensor will be larger than the type 1-inch IMX989 on the Xiaomi 13 Ultra. That would, of course, grant the Xiaomi 15 Ultra the honor of being the smartphone with the largest CMOS sensor on the market.
Zoom has always been a big feature of Xiaomi's "Ultra" models, which seems set to continue with the Xiaomi 15 Ultra. Supposedly, the flagship will feature a 200 MP telephoto snapper, akin to the Vivo X100 Ultra's. While that sensor was paired with a 3.7x periscope lens on the Vivo, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra is expected to sport about a 4.4x zoom lens but will boast of 10x lossless zoom.
In addition to those, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra is tipped to possibly feature new selfie camera hardware, a 4K cinematic video mode, and improved slow-motion capture. A Q1 2025 launch is expected.
