Qualcomm has long confirmed its plans to launch its next-gen flagship chipset, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, in October. The SoC will power a slew of Android flagship phones next year, and a new leak has now thrown more light on it ahead of its debut.
As revealed by Digital Chat Station, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will arrive with significant improvements in the GPU department. Reportedly, the next-gen chipset's GPU will be notably more powerful than the Adreno 750 on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. The Adreno 750 already performs better than the GPU of Apple's A17 Pro on the iPhone 15 Pro Max (buy renewed on Amazon), and it appears the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will continue Qualcomm's newly found GPU dominance.
While prior leaks have touted sky-high clock speeds for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, the source claims that the upcoming chipset will also manage to consume less power than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. That indicates the chipset may not run at frequencies as high as rumored, while also emphasizing the efficiency benefits of TSMC's 3 nm node it will be built on.
