The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is set to be unveiled at the Snapdragon Summit, which will take place from October 21 to 23 in Hawaii. Qualcomm hasn't officially said anything about the chipset yet, but a leaker says that the internal testing data doesn't hint at an impressive CPU performance boost. However, the GPU improvement is said to be "huge."

Qualcomm's upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will be powering the next-gen flagships, including the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra. This new flagship chipset is set to be announced at the Snapdragon Summit, which will take place from October 21 to 23 in Maui, Hawaii.

While the company has yet to reveal details about its next-gen flagship SoC, a tipster on X says that the internal testing data of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 doesn't point to a big CPU performance jump. It is said to be within a "single-digit percentage" compared to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.

The good part is that the leaker says that the GPU will see a "huge" improvement. @negativeonehero, the tipster on X, even adds that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 can offer the same level of GPU performance as the Dimensity 9300 at half the power of the MediaTek SoC.

This would be great news for mobile gamers, but if the info coming from this tipster is correct, those who prioritize CPU performance more might be better off skipping the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 and waiting for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 instead. That SoC will launch in 2026 and is expected to feature custom Pegasus CPU cores.
