Nubia's Z60 Ultra with "Leading Version" Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 slated for global launch on July 23
Nubia is preparing to relaunch the Z60 Ultra globally, with the new variant featuring an overclocked "Leading Version" Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor. A China launch was teased last month, with the new flagship rumored to be called the Z60S Ultra. The company posted a teaser on July 10, stating that the upgraded Z60 Ultra will be "the most powerful Ultra in 2024" (translated from Chinese), and revealing the launch date in China - July 23. Just yesterday, Nubia posted another teaser on Facebook - this one in English - showcasing the same release date, which means that both variants will be launched together.
The Z60 Ultra was pretty impressive throughout our review, scoring 1702 points on the Geekbench 5.5 Single-core test. That's higher than the Xiaomi 14 Pro and the Google Pixel 8 Pro (currently $840 on Amazon).

The Nubia Z60 Ultra debuted with a 6.8-inch BOE Q9+ OLED display with a 1.5K resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and a peak brightness of 1500 nits. One of the highlights of the device is the 12MP under-display camera. As mentioned previously, the new variant will be equipped with a "Leading Version" Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. This is the same chipset in the RedMagic 9S Pro, and it is rated to go up to 3.4GHz (up to 1GHz for its GPU). The SoC would likely be paired with up to 24GB of LPDDR5x RAM and 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage. A 6,000mAh battery with 80W fast charging should power the device.
For photography, the Z60 Ultra launched with a triple camera setup consisting of a 50MP main sensor, a 50MP ultrawide lens, and a 64MP periscope telephoto lens. All three cameras support OIS and 4K 120fps video recording. The new variant is expected to have the same camera specs, but we will have to wait until July 23 for concrete details.
