Xiaomi announces new affordable Redmi Bluetooth speaker with dual drivers and IP67 rating

The Redmi Bluetooth speaker is the latest addition to Xiaomi's wireless audio accessories portfolio. It is set to launch on June 14 in China at CNY 129 (about $18), but the current preorder price is just CNY 99 (around $13.67). As the teaser posters show, there will be three colors available: black, green, and orange.

Among the main highlights is the IP67 rating. This rating means that the wireless speaker is perfect for outdoor use. The wireless speaker even has an integrated lanyard, which aims to make it easier to carry around. Its exterior is made of soft rubber, and the unit has a compact, travel-friendly form factor.

As for the audio setup, Xiaomi says that the Redmi Bluetooth speaker sports a "2-unit acoustic configuration" with a 1.5-inch main driver. This setup promises to deliver "clear, bright, and powerful" audio. You also get the ability to pair two of these together to get a True Wireless Stereo (TWS) setup.

Other than that, the new Redmi wireless speaker has Bluetooth 5.3, which should lead to reliable wireless connections. There's a large built-in battery too. Xiaomi says that it can deliver up to 5 hours of playtime with a single charge.
