CMF Phone 1 proves surprisingly difficult to tear down in new video
Nothing's spin-off brand CMF seems to have aimed to make the perfect handset for modding enthusiasts in putting its first-gen smartphone together.
The CMF Phone 1 is not transparent like the Phone (1), yet looks poised to score some reparability and sustainability points by coming with a rear panel that can really be removed, with real screws to boot. However, teardown YouTuber PBKReviews claims that not all is as it appears under that customizable surface.
The device's internals look much like those of many other Android smartphones - except that there are in fact addition stumbling blocks because of CMF by Nothing's design choices, which include a hidden screw under the device's Accessory Point (a dial-like feature to which things like lanyards can be attached) that hamper battery replacements.
In addition, some of the internal screws have tamper-resistant stickers that tell on you if you void the warranty by taking the Phone 1 apart. Accordingly, PBKReviews gave the CMF Phone 1 a score of 6.5 out of 10 for reparability.
