Some potential shoppers might appreciate the relatively clean new look of the Samsung Galaxy A14 5G, (particularly in terms of its triple rear cameras) although its rumored resemblance to the OEM's upcoming 2023 flagship smartphones remains to be seen.
Now, third-party repair enthusiasts may also have reasons to be delighted with the new bargain device, as the YouTuber PBKReviews has discovered. Not only are its internals reasonably easy to get at thanks to its plastic rear panel, it seems Samsung has dropped a practice often vilified for discouraging the replacement of parts in its smartphones.
The OEM is often panned for using as much glue as seemingly possible when installing batteries into these devices, thus making their removal without risk of damage difficult. The A14, however, has been equipped with an adhesive "pouch" instead.
This option, highly reminiscent of the pull-tabs of old, could make replacements much easier, not the least because PBKReviews concludes it is re-usable with the new battery.
Furthermore, the A14 design means that some components such as the rear camera module do not require a full teardown to fix them - then again, it seems one is necessary to replace the smartphone's 90Hz display.
A case for your new Galaxy A14 could still be a good idea, though.
