Xiaomi's main mobile device sub-brand Redmi is said to augment its new Note 12 line of smartphones with a new Turbo Edition soon. The variant is thought to resemble its siblings in some ways, albeit with potentially better and newer specs than some. It is also now tipped to launch with hardware missing from the series thus far.

Redmi has already introduced the Note 12 Pro Speed Edition; now, the Xiaomi subsidiary is rumored to follow it up with a Turbo variant. This alleged upcoming addition to the mid-range smartphone line-up is already thought to come with specific advantages the vanilla 12, an upgrade to MIUI 14 out of the box and a chance to debut the Snapdragon 7 Gen 2 SoC included.

The "Note 12 Turbo" name has also turned up in a new leak that suggests Redmi has been keeping something in reserve for this Edition. According to Debayan Roy (or @Gadgetsdata on Twitter), it will launch with an in-display fingerprint reader.

That technology might seem ready to be all but standard in most new mid-range Android smartphones by now; however, it is absent across the entire Note 12 series to date (the high-powered Discovery Edition included), even though they all have OLED displays.

Therefore, should the Turbo Edition truly exist, it seems Redmi might intend to release it at a slightly higher price-point that most Note 12-series devices, even without gimmicks such as 210W charging.
