Xiaomi's popular brand Redmi is projected to pair an on-trend display with MediaTek's new Dimensity 9200 flagship processor in the course of updating its 2023 range of Android smartphones with models such as the "K60 Ultra". The device may or may not also be involved in the OEM's rumored pivot away from its typical camera hump style to something more like Samsung's current signature style.

Redmi is expected to schedule at least 1 new Android smartphone launch event for the third quarter of 2023, in events that might see further additions to its flagship K series, among others. The Xiaomi subsidiary is also now expected to dress this pretty standard product cycle up with a design update for its mobile devices.

The brand is, for example, projected to base 1 of them on the new Dimensity 9200 SoC, which might drive a particularly high (144Hz, perhaps) refresh rate in a new 1.5K display. This new smartphone is suspected of launching as a successor to the K50 Ultra.

However, that might make less than total sense, as its 100W charging would be a downgrade on that of the existing K60 Pro. Then again, the eminent leaker Digital Chat Station has intimated that it might have the enhanced battery capacity to make up for that.

Whether the device as described really is the K60 Ultra or not remains to be seen. Either way, according to the same tipster, it might have a new design, as Redmi may have finally conceded that the 'Galaxy S23' camera hump style is what smartphone fans want in 2023.
