The POCO X5 Pro 5G has arrived globally, with Xiaomi electing to launch the handset alongside the POCO X5 5G. In short, the POCO X5 Pro 5G not only serves as a POCO X4 Pro 5G successor, but it also serves as the global version of the Redmi Note 12 Pro Speed Edition. While Xiaomi has not acknowledged the similarities between the POCO X5 Pro 5G and the Redmi Note 12 Pro Speed Edition, the pair contain almost identical specifications.
Hence, the POCO X5 Pro 5G measures 162.91 x 76.03 x 7.9 mm and weighs 181 g. Additionally, the handset has a 6.67-inch AMOLED display that runs natively at 1080p, 120 Hz and 900 nits (HBM). Moreover, the POCO X5 Pro 5G relies on the Snapdragon 778G, LPDDR4X RAM, UFS 2.2 flash storage and a 5,000 mAh battery that supports 67 W wired charging.
Furthermore, the POCO X5 Pro 5G has the same 108 MP primary, 8 MP ultra-wide-angle, 2 MP macro and 16 MP front-facing cameras as the Redmi Note 12 Pro Speed Edition. The former lacks all the latter's memory configurations, though. Despite selling the Redmi Note 12 Pro Speed Edition with up to 12 GB of RAM in China, the POCO X5 Pro 5G will come with up to 8 GB of RAM, as well as 256 GB of storage. An entry-level configuration with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage remains.
Incidentally, the POCO X5 Pro 5G is the first smartphone that Xiaomi has announced globally with MIUI 14; the POCO X5 5G ships with MIUI 13. The POCO X5 Pro 5G will come pre-installed with Android 13 too, a two Android-version jump from its predecessor. The POCO X5 Pro 5G will be available from tomorrow in black, blue and yellow colourways, plus a €50 discount for early orders from the prices shown below.
- 6 GB of RAM/128 GB of storage - €349.90
- 8 GB of RAM/256 GB of storage - €399.90
