Redmi has updated its Note 12 line along with its K series of smartphones during its last major mobile device event of 2022. The new Speed Edition is based on the existing 12 Pro, yet has the ~15-month-old Snapdragon 778G chipset, touted as an "upgrade" over the MediaTek Dimensity 1080 platform.
The new version has a 108MP main rear camera as opposed to the 50MP shooter of the original 12 Pro. Redmi's new Speed Edition also remains an OLED-display smartphone, and, much like the new K60, has 67W wired charging for its 5,000mAh battery.
The "light" new Note 12 Pro Speed Edition starts at an appropriately wallet-friendly 1,699 yuan (~US$244), although that may be because its base model has just 6GB of RAM to go with its 128GB of internal storage. Then again, there are also 8GB/256GB and top-end 12/256GB options for ~US$259 and ~US$287 respectively.
Unlike the K60 and K60 Pro, which are not available until December 31, 2022, they are available to order in China from now.
