Redmi Note 12 Pro Discovery Edition: Xiaomi showcases 210 W wired fast charging technology with 9-minute 0-100% recharge times
Xiaomi has lifted the lid on the Redmi Note 12 Pro Discovery Edition, previously thought of as the Redmi Note 12 Explorer Edition. Like the Redmi Note 12 Racing Edition, the Discovery Edition largely has the same hardware as the Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus. However, there are a few areas in which Xiaomi has distinguished the Discovery Edition from the Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus.
On the one hand, the Discovery Edition has a 4,300 mAh battery capacity, 700 mAh smaller than the equivalent in the Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus. Incidentally, the battery capacity drop has made the Discovery Edition slightly lighter than its sibling, albeit by less than 1 g. Specifically, while the Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus weighs 208.4 g, the Discovery Edition tips the scales at 207.5 g. Still, both models measure 162.9 x 76 x 8.98 mm.
On the other hand, the Discovery Edition is Xiaomi's first device to support 210 W wired fast charging. Allegedly, the technology allows the Discovery Edition to fully recharge its 4,300 mAh battery in just 9 minutes from 0%. In other words, the Discovery Edition should fully recharge twice as fast as the Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus. Elsewhere, the Discovery Edition shares its 6.67-inch OLED display, 200 MP Samsung HPX primary camera and MediaTek Dimensity 1080 chipset with the Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus.
Xiaomi has priced the Redmi Note 12 Pro Discovery Edition at CNY 2,399 (~US$334) with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. Like the rest of the Redmi Note 12 series, the Discovery Edition ships with MIUI 13 based on Android 12. For some reason, Xiaomi has decided against selling the device with a 12 GB option, as is the case with the regular Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus.
