Xiaomi has introduced the Redmi Note 12 Pro in China, where it starts at CNY 1,699 (~US$237) with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. Available with up to 12 GB of RAM, the Redmi Note 12 Pro has the MediaTek Dimensity 1080, a 50 MP camera with OIS and a 5,000 mAh battery that supports OIS, among other features.

Xiaomi has presented the Redmi Note 12 Pro, one of four Redmi Note 12 series models that the company has announced today in China. As expected, the Redmi Note 12 Pro combines the MediaTek Dimensity 1080 chipset with a 5,000 mAh battery and a 6.67-inch OLED display, among other features. Although the Redmi Note 12 Pro is a Chinese exclusive for now, Xiaomi is thought to have earmarked early 2023 for a global Redmi Note 12 series release.

Like other Redmi Note 12 series models, the Redmi Note 12 Pro has a 1080p display with a 120 Hz refresh rate. Additionally, the device supports 67 W fast charging, has LPDDR4x RAM and UFS 2.2 flash storage. Unfortunately, Xiaomi has decided to launch the Redmi Note 12 series with Android 12, effectively limiting the series to one year's software support up to Android 14. Based on the Redmi Note 11 series global release, the Redmi Note 12 Pro may debut early next year with Android 12 outside Xiaomi's home market, too.

Elsewhere, the Redmi Note 12 Pro relies on the Sony IMX766 as its primary camera, a 50 MP sensor that Xiaomi complements with optical image stabilisation (OIS). Moreover, the device has an 8 MP ultra-wide-angle camera with a 119° FOV, a 2 MP macro lens and a 16 MP front-facing camera that peaks at 1080p video recordings. For reference, the Redmi Note 12 Pro measures 162.9 x 76 x 7.9 mm and weighs 187 g.

At launch, Xiaomi will offer the Redmi Note 12 Pro in four colours and four memory configurations. Available from CNY 1,699 (~US$) with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage, all memory configurations can be configured in Midnight Dark, Mirror Porcelain White, Shallow Dream Star and Time Blue colourways. According to Xiaomi's website, the Redmi Note 12 Pro will cost as follows, depending on the memory configuration chosen:

  • 6 GB of RAM/128 GB storage: CNY 1,699 (~US$237)
  • 8 GB of RAM/128 GB storage: CNY 1,799 (~US$251)
  • 8 GB of RAM/256 GB storage: CNY 1,999 (~US$279)
  • 12 GB of RAM/256 GB storage: CNY 2,199 (~US$307)
