Only a few days have passed since Xiaomi shared a cryptic Redmi Note 12-related teaser on Weibo. While the company claimed that the Redmi Note 12 series would not be ready until November, it has since clarified a specific release date, as well as providing several other details about its upcoming mid-range smartphones. Presumably, Xiaomi is at the start of its Redmi Note 12 teaser campaign too.
As the images below show, the Redmi Note 12 series will debut on October 27. However, it would appear that this date only applies to the series' Chinese launch, as is often the case with Redmi Note releases. Currently, Xiaomi is not expected to release any Redmi Note 12 series models outside its home market until early 2023. Still, Xiaomi has revealed part of at least the Redmi Note 12 Pro's design, which has a familiar triple rear-facing camera array and a curved back panel.
So far, Xiaomi has teased that the Redmi Note 12 Pro will rely on the IMX766 as its primary camera, which Xiaomi has optically stabilised (OIS). Incidentally, Xiaomi already uses the 50 MP and 1/1.56-inch sensor in the Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12X. Additionally, the Sony IMX766 is popular among BBK Electronics subsidiaries and even features in Nothing's first smartphone, the Nothing Phone (1). Potentially, one Redmi Note 12 series model could have a curved display too, which would be unusual for a Redmi Note smartphone. Separately, Xiaomi has hinted at the Redmi Note 12 series showcasing breakthroughs in screen, charging and sound quality technologies, albeit without providing any concrete examples yet.
