Xiaomi Redmi Projector announced with expected brightness up to 850 ANSI lumens
Xiaomi has announced the Redmi Projector, which will be available to pre-order in China from October 27. Teaser posters suggest that two models will be available: entry-level and Pro variants. A product listing on JD.com indicates that the regular DLP projector will have up to 600 lumens brightness, while the Pro model will have a maximum brightness of 850 ANSI lumens. The Pro projector also appears to support Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connections, but the standard model does not. Alternatively, you could connect to the gadgets via a USB 2.0 port.
Both 1080p projectors seem to have a 3000:1 contrast ratio and a 16:9 aspect ratio. Plus, they can throw images from 80 to 150-in (~203 to 381 cm) thanks to a 0.23:1 throw ratio. You can manually focus and perfect your picture with keystone correction, and you should be able to control the device with voice commands. The shape of the new Redmi Projector is similar to that of the Mi Smart Compact projector, with a vertical design and curved edges. The projectors are billed as lightweight, weighing around 2 kg (~4.4 lbs). Teaser images suggest that the Redmi Projector has a white and black casing, while the Pro has an all-black exterior.
The Redmi Projector and Redmi Projector Pro will be available to pre-order in China from October 27 and are expected to retail for 1,999 yuan (~US278) and 2,999 yuan (~US417), respectively. The gadgets will go on general sale on October 31; it is unclear whether or when Xiaomi could release the devices in other markets.
