The MediaTek Dimensity 1080 is now just over three years old, yet is thought to be the defining feature of a number of new Android smartphones in the coming year. The devices might have reasonable price-tags in line with their outdated silicon and its underwhelming performance.

The Doogee V30T is one of the newest smartphone on Amazon with the MediaTek Dimensity 1080 processor; however, it is not to be the last, according to esteemed leaker Digital Chat Station.

On the other hand, it might cost even less than $309.99 on its release, as its silicon will be well over 2 years old on its release. Even the affordable Redmi Note series abandoned the 1080 in 2023, yet its aging 6 nanometer (6nm) architecture will apparently still be good enough for some OEMs.

6 of its ARM cores are Cortex-A55s clocked at just 2GHz, although it has 2 more Cortex-A78s with a faster 2.6GHz speed. Its specs also include a Mali-G68 MP4 as a GPU, with no mention of machine learning or neural processing capabilities.

Then again, it is capable of driving a display up to the popular 120Hz refresh rate, and support up to 1440p resolutions. Nevertheless, it might be fit for not much more than devices that use gimmicks such as super-sized batteries as a unique selling point.
