Dimensity 6300 launches as latest MediaTek SoC refresh for mid-range Android smartphones
MediaTek's latest processor announcement involves a name that might make it seem like the Dimensity 9300 has finally been cut down for the mid-range market - however, the silicon in question is based on an older 6 nanometer (nm) architecture with the ARM Mali-G57 MC2 GPU.
It exhibits the well-worn 2 Cortex-A76 + 6 Cortex-A55 ARM core configuration - then again, with a top speed of 2.4GHz, smartphones based on this 'new' processor could be up to 10% faster than those based on its immediate processor, the Dimensity 6100+.
Then again, the similarities (which include support for older standards such as Wi-Fi 5, LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 flash storage) between it and the Dimensity 810 from 2021 cannot be ignored.
On the other hand, the 6300 upgrades to Bluetooth 5.2 as opposed to 5.1 for the 810, supports up-to-date 120Hz refresh rates (albeit for FHD+ displays only with no mention of more modern 1.5K resolutions) and main cameras of up to 108MP "with Enhanced Noise Reduction".
The Dimensity 6300 is believed to be unleashed on the affordable Android smartphone market in the form of devices such as the Realme C65 soon.
