Xiaomi's well-known smartphone sub-brand Redmi has proliferated its Note 12 series rapidly since its initial launch announcement. It includes interesting, yet limited-availability, variants such as the Discovery Edition, which may now be joined by a new sibling that may stand a better chance of going global.
The leaker Kacper Skrzyprek (or @kacskrz on Twitter) now asserts that it will launch as the Turbo Edition, also known by the code-name marble. The ever-present tips channel Digital Chat Station purports to flesh these hints out with hints that it might be the Android smartphone to debut the Snapdragon 7 Gen 2 SoC.
This chipset may or may not become the Qualcomm counterpart to the MediaTek Dimensity 8200, and, thus, may indeed help with earning "Turbo" status compared to the vanilla Note 12. Then again, with rumored 50+8+2MP rear cameras, it may emerge looking more like the Pro variant.
The smartphone is also now said to come with specs apparently fast trickling down to the mid-range tier: up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage with a 6.67-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate to boot.
A 67W 5,500mAh battery may also help this possible new Note 12-series member set itself apart from the Speed Edition. Finally, according to Digital Chat Station, it might charge itself up with Xiaomi's latest MIUI 14 based on Android 13 out of the box.
