Xiaomi Automatic Smart fingerprint door lock with HomeKit coming to more countries
The Xiaomi Automatic Smart Door Lock has been revealed on the company’s global site, suggesting it will soon arrive in markets worldwide. There are seven ways to unlock the smart lock, such as permanent and temporary passwords, NFC cards, the Apple Home app, Siri voice commands, and your phone via Bluetooth. Plus, the gadget has a multidimensional fingerprint scanner, which Xiaomi claims has 98.94% accuracy, enabling you to unlock your door with one movement.
The straight lock cylinder will automatically lock within 0.8 seconds of you closing the door. Plus, alarms can let you know if any abnormal behaviour is detected, if you leave the door open or when the battery is running low. Other safety features include a physical emergency key, and the device has an integrated doorbell. You can control the gadget via the Xiaomi app, and the battery is expected to last up to a year. The lock is compatible with the Xiaomi Mijia and Apple HomeKit smart home systems, enabling you to link the lock to other gadgets.
The device is suitable for doors from 40 to 120 mm (~1.6 to 4.7-in) thick. It is unclear when the Xiaomi Automatic Smart Door Lock will launch outside of China, which markets it will arrive in and how much it will cost. The Xiaomi Automatic Smart Door Lock is available in China via Youpin for 1,799 yuan (~US$265). The Xiaomi NFC Card, compatible with the lock, is available via the same platform for 49 yuan (~US$7).
