Segway has announced improvements to the Navimow, a robot lawn mower that the company introduced in May 2022. Initially, the company offered the Navimow in Europe, with prices starting at €1,199 for the H500E. Arguably, one of the biggest selling points with the Navimow is its navigation system. While most robot lawn mowers rely on boundary wires to keep them within a given area, the Navimow uses Exact Fusion Locating System (EFLS), effectively a form of GPS.
Now, Segway is offering the Navimow with VisionFence, an optional sensor. Supposedly, the VisionFence Sensor improves mowing accuracy and intelligence by recognising multiple objects like lawn edges. Segway claims that VisionFence can even spot moving objects, including small animals, and move the Navimow around them.
According to Segway, the VisionFence sensor plugs into the top of the Navimow without any modifications. Incidentally, the arrival of VisionFence coincides with the Navimow's UK release. While the Navimow series is orderable now in the UK, the VisionFence Sensor will not start shipping until next month. Segway states that the sensor will retail for £269.99 but will be available for £169.99 when purchasing a Navimow, which cost between £1,299 and £2,299 in the UK.
