IKEA has announced several smart home products which will launch in the coming months. Details about a new lampshade in the SYMFONISK Wi-Fi speaker lamp range, designed in collaboration with Sonos, were revealed as part of the IKEA Summer Collection 2023.
The new lampshade will launch between April and June with a woven bamboo design which the company suggests will provide "decoratively scattered light". A selection of SYMFONISK Panel for picture frame speaker products is also on the way. According to IKEA, the latest collection will focus on images inspired by Latin America. The summer lookbook also mentions a new VAPPEBY Bluetooth speaker lamp. The portable light will be waterproof, making it suitable for outdoor use. IKEA suggests that the product will be available in various colors, including black. It is unclear whether this device is the same rumored gadget seen earlier this year.
Another new product from IKEA is the VINDSTYRKA smart air quality sensor. The gadget measures your room's temperature, humidity, PM2.5 level, and TVOC; you can use these readings to trigger linked smart home gadgets such as an air purifier or a fan. While the VINDSTYRKA is due to launch officially in April for €39.99 (~US$43), some customers in Germany have reported already finding the product in stores.
