The latest mini PC introduced by Minisforum, namely NUCG5, comes with a 12th gen Intel processor and a dual Thunderbolt 4 design. Pre-orders can already be placed on the OEM's website and, for now, there are only two hardware configurations to choose from.
According to the official press release, this compact machine (4.31 X 4.35 X 2.44 inch) is now "more powerful, capable, and affordable for the edge, business, or home." In addition to the Intel Core i5-1240P processor and the pair of 40 Gbps ports mentioned earlier, both configurations come with RJ45 Ethernet, a 3.5 mm combo jack, dual HDMI 2.0, 3 X USB 3.2 and a single USB 2.0 port. In the video card department, this mini PC sports the low-power Intel Iris Xe G7 80EU dGPU with a clock speed of up to 1.3 GHz.
The two configurations and their prices are these:
- 16 GB DDR4 + 512 GB PCIe 3.0 SSD, US$579 (US$689 full retail price)
- 32 GB DDR4 + 512 GB PCIe 3.0 SSD, US$629 (down from US$749)
Although it is smaller than the Minisforum UM mini PCs, such as the Venus Series UM580, the NUCG5 comes with a comprehensive set of features that, in addition to the above, also includes quad 4K display support. The Minisforum NUCG5 will arrive with Windows 11 Pro preloaded and is scheduled to start shipping next month, when the early bird prices mentioned above will hit the retail values.
