Last week, MINISFORUM started selling the NAD9 globally, a mini-PC that sits within the company’s Neptune series. As we described at the time, the NAD9 contains the Core i9-12900H with 6 performance cores, 8 efficiency cores and an Iris Xe GPU that features 96 Execution Units (EUs). While the latter was powerful when it debuted with Intel’s Tiger Lake platform, it is no match for discrete solutions, let alone the Radeon 680M iGPU baked into many Ryzen 6000 APUs.
According to PC Watch, MINISFORUM has also created the NAG6, which combines the same processor as the NAD9 but with a Radeon RX 6600M discrete GPU. The Radeon RX 6600M relies on the Navi 23, a GPU on which AMD has included 1,792 cores, 32 MB of Infinity Cache and up to a 100 W TGP. In short, the Radeon RX 6600M offers approximately 3x the performance of the Iris Xe in most games.
The NAG6 appears to share the same ports and expansion options as the NAD9. Hence, the former has dual SODIMM slots, an M.2 2280 slot and ten USB ports, along with twin HDMI 2.0 ports, dedicated audio and microphone jacks and a 2.5 Gbps Ethernet connection. Currently, MINISFORUM expects to begin selling the NAG6 from February 2023 for JPY 158,900 (~US$1,146) with 32 GB of RAM and a 512 GB SSD. Typically, Japanese retail prices are much higher than those of other markets though, so we do not expect the NAG6 to cost twice as much as the NAD9 whenever it launches globally.
