GMKtec presents NucBox 9 mini-PC with AMD Ryzen 5 5600U and 16 GB RAM
GMKtec has introduced the NucBox 9, a mini-PC that builds on last month’s NucBox 8. While the latter relies on the low-powered Intel Celeron N4100, GMKtec has equipped the NucBox 9 with the Ryzen 5 5600U, a Cezanne generation APU built around AMD’s Zen 3 microarchitecture. For context, the Ryzen 5 5600U should provide over 4x the performance of the Celeron N4100.
Unsurprisingly, the NucBox 9 is significantly more expensive than the NucBox 8. At the time of writing, GMKtec charges US$499.99 for its latest mini-PC, roughly 3.56x the price of a NucBox 8. The NucBox 9 also features 16 GB of RAM, 512 GB of storage and the following ports within a 124.5 x 112 x 41 mm chassis:
- 1 x 2.5 Gbps Ethernet
- 1 x 3.5 mm audio
- 2 x HDMI 2.0
- 1 x microSD card reader
- 2 x USB 2.0 Type-A
- 2 x USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-A
- 1 x USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C (10 Gbps)
The NucBox 9 is orderable now from GMKtec’s website, although the company stresses that it will not begin shipping units until early next month. Also, GMKtec offers to cover the EU or UK for a US$10 surcharge and is offering a US$70 discount when you apply code ‘KB9PreOrder’ during checkout.
