Nothing has started distributing Nothing OS 1.1.7, less than a month after the company released the last update for the Phone (1). As always, Nothing has upgraded the Nothing Phone (1) to a new Android security update. Unusually, Nothing claims to have upgraded the Phone (1) to ‘October / November Security Patch’, rather than one or the other.
The company’s changelog also reports that Nothing OS 1.1.7 offers more accurate battery status than Nothing OS 1.1.6, as well as improved audio quality when recording videos. Additionally, Nothing claims to have reduced OS stutters and ‘improved OS fluidity’, albeit without disclosing how. Moreover, this month’s new update should resolve an issue that resulted in unresponsive WhatsApp lock screen notifications.
Furthermore, Nothing OS 1.1.7 adds support for showing the battery percentage of connecting AirPods earbuds. As far as we are aware, the Nothing Phone (1) is one of the only smartphones to support AirPods in this manner, if not the only smartphone to do so. As the screenshot below highlights, the AirPods-related feature can be enabled under Experimental features within the main Setting menu. The feature’s inclusion in Experimental features suggests that it should be considered in beta, rather than being ready for a full public release. Nothing OS 1.1.7 should be available to download now as an approximately 80 MB over-the-air (OTA) file.
