Nothing's Carl Pei has noted that his fledging tech OEM finds it particularly challenging to break into the United States with its phone (1) to date.
Speaking in a new YouTube video (and citing an article that, just in case you were wondering, was indeed one of ours) OnePlus executive candidly compared his company with the 'big names' in the market such as Samsung and Apple, conceding that they have the edge in areas such as margin and, of course, carrier placement.
Bigger companies do admittedly have the advantage as they tend to have the capacity to develop obligatory and individual carrier-linked software updates as well as manufacture more products at a reduced bill of materials, or so Pei conceded.
However, the London-based OEM has now announced that it may be making strides in this area, as it is currently holding talks with US carriers "to potentially launch a future product".
In the meantime, Nothing has managed something else normally associated with larger OEMs and their budgets (if less so these days): an investment in brick-and-mortar stores.
Or just one, to be precise: located at 4 Peter Street (W1F 0AD) in its native city, it extends over 2 floors and contains patently aspirational showcases for audiophile products from its design partner teenage engineering as well as products such as its Phone (1) and Ear (stick) buds.
Nothing plans to keep the store open from 10:00 to 19:00 GMT Monday to Saturday and 12:00 to 18:00 GMT on Sunday.
