MagyarXiaomi teases features and MIUI 14 launch software for Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro while outlining release date
Xiaomi has lifted the lid on the first Xiaomi 13 series models. As expected, the company will announce the Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro first, although a Xiaomi 13 Ultra is also rumoured to be in the works. Surprisingly, the Xiaomi 13 series will arrive before the end of the week, with Xiaomi scheduling a launch event for December 1 at 19:00 China Standard Time (11:00 UTC).
So far, Xiaomi has revealed four Xiaomi 13 series-related teaser images, which we have embedded below. Based on leaked renders, the Xiaomi 13 Pro is the left-hand device in the image above, on account of its curved display and smaller frame. By contrast, the Xiaomi 13 is expected to launch with a flat display and a frame reminiscent of recent iPhones, which Xiaomi’s teaser underlines. Seemingly, the Xiaomi 13 could be available in China in up to ten colourways, although Xiaomi has not confirmed this yet.
Additionally, Leica camera tunings return, as do ‘high-end’ OLED displays. However, Xiaomi claims that the Xiaomi 13 series will offer IP68 certification against dust and water, a feature that the Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12 Pro lack. For context, IP68 has been common among flagship smartphones for years, so this is more of a case of Xiaomi playing catching up rather than bringing something new to the tablet. Moreover, at least one model will feature ‘nano skin’, a polymer that feels like leather while being hardier than past attempts.
December 1 will also mark the introduction of MIUI 14, an OS update that Xiaomi is likely to base on Android 12 and Android 13. While Xiaomi has not revealed any MIUI 14-related details yet, we suspect that the company will integrate Android 13’s core new features, such as greater colour customisation options, a revamped notification shade and per-app language options.
