The Galaxy A14 5G may look interesting in its alleged renders, yet may seem like a let-down when it reportedly leaked onto Geekbench with an Exynos processor. However, the same device has now apparently re-surfaced on the same benchmark, but with a different SoC, one from MediaTek this time. This variant may or may not be intended for sale in the United States.

The Galaxy A series of Android smartphones is projected to launch with an updated, almost high-end, build compared to its predecessors in 2023. All of its variants might be eligible for this upgraded look, even the potentially affordable A14 4G and 5G.

The latter is now rumored to launch with an Exynos 1330 processor, in an age where even the top-end S23 series has dropped this in-house silicon with its perennial potential for disappointment. This theory is based on the appearance of a "Samsung SM-A146" with the platform on Geekbench.

However, the same model number is now allegedly back on the same website, albeit with different silicon this time. It is listed as the ARM MT6833V/NZA on the benchmark - or, in other words, the MediaTek Dimensity 700.

Therefore, this "Galaxy A14" would still be 5G-capable with the same updated OS and amount of RAM, yet have a slightly older (if better established) platform.

It also differs from earlier leaks in that its model number has the prefix "U" for the first time, which often denotes US regional specificity - for example, the corresponding version of the Galaxy Z Fold4 is also the SM-F936U.

Accordingly, it is now believed that this device may be a version of the Galaxy A14 5G approved for release in the US, where it might prove a worthwhile budget option in 2023.
