Samsung Galaxy A23 5G: extensively renovated, but more expensive

Samsung's Galaxy A23 5G is a modern phone for little money. However, the predecessor Galaxy A22 5G was much cheaper at the time of its release last year and is still available, for example, for US$ 188.50 at Amazon USA at the time of writing.

Is it even worth paying US$ 244.99 for the Galaxy A23 5G? Well, the new phone offers significantly more performance than its predecessor and, above all, faster storage, so that overall system performance is much better.

Samsung has also improved the screen, which is little now a bit brighter and slightly faster with a refresh rate of 120 Hz. Unfortunately, you cannot set the frame rate, so you have to settle for the automatic mode, which does not always work very accurately. The brightness sensor also has dropouts from time to time.

The manufacturer has installed an additional lens in the rear camera, but the macro camera's resolution of only 2 megapixels is so low that there is hardly any use for it. So the more significant innovation in the Galaxy A23 5G is definitely the optical image stabilization in the main sensor, which reduces camera shake.

We discovered minor issues with the screen, which is still not bright enough and also shows a clear bluish tint. Samsung also installs a lot of bloatware on its phone, so some undesired apps will need to be uninstalled.

Overall, the Galaxy A23 5G does not fare badly, even at the new higher price, thanks to the many upgrades.
