Taiwan is a market in which Samsung Galaxy A-series smartphones reportedly comprised 7 of the top 20 best-selling smartphones for June 2022. This may be why the OEM chose to make the A23 5G a reality in the country. The smartphone has launched with the same display size as its 4G/LTE counterpart, although the newer variant has a 120Hz refresh rate.
The spec applies to an IPS LCD display with a V-shaped notch, however. Then again, the 'new' A23 also rocks the 50MP main camera with which Samsung has graced many of its lower-to-mid-range Galaxy smartphones in 2022 - with OIS, moreover. It is joined by a 5MP ultrawide-angle shooter with a 123° field of view - saddled with less up-to-date 2+2MP macro and depth lenses.
Both A23 variants also have the same battery capacity, although the 5G model is rated to charge at up to 25W. It owes its advanced connectivity to a Snapdragon 695 SoC, paired with either 4 or 6GB of RAM, and even 64-128GB of internal storage that can be expanded via microSD card (no mention of a 3.5mm jack, though).
The Galaxy A23 5G will be made available in black, blue or peach colorways from September 1, 2022 from major Samsung and non-Samsung channels across Taiwan. It is slated to be priced from NT$8,990 (~US$298) to NT$9,990 (~US$331), whereas the A13 5G will cost NT$6,990 (~US$232) to NT$7,990 (~US$265).
