GMKtec NucBox 10 arrives with AMD Ryzen 7 5800U APU and new blue colourway
The NucBox 10 is GMKtec’s third mini-PC in almost as many weeks, with the company launching the NucBox 8 in late October and the NucBox 9 a month later. Arguably, the NucBox 10 could have been another version of the NucBox 9 though, with just a colourway and an APU choice separating the pair. While GMKtec offers the NucBox 9 in silver, the company will ship the NucBox 10 in a more fetching light blue hue.
At the heart of the NucBox 10 is the Ryzen 7 5800U, an APU from the same generation as the Ryzen 5 5600U in the NucBox 9. Theoretically, the two additional CPU cores that the Ryzen 7 5800U has over the Ryzen 5 5600U should deliver a healthy performance gain. However, roughly 5% separates the pair in our benchmark database, even with a 200 MHz higher CPU boost clock in the Ryzen 7 5800U’s favour. Conversely, the Ryzen 7’s extra GPU Compute Unit should provide approximately a 20% uplift in GPU-heavy tasks and in games.
Currently, the NucBox 10 is orderable from GMKtec for US$509.99 with a US$90 coupon applied during checkout. Alternatively, the company will cover EU and UK VAT charges for a US$10 surcharge. As with the NucBox 9, the NucBox 10 contains the following ports:
- 1 x 2.5 Gbps Ethernet
- 1 x 3.5 mm audio
- 2 x HDMI 2.0
- 1 x microSD card reader
- 2 x USB 2.0 Type-A
- 2 x USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-A
- 1 x USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C (10 Gbps)
