Rumor | Dimensity 9200 Plus smashes through Geekbench records on path to May 2023 launch
MediaTek has just unveiled May 10, 2023 as the date on which the Dimensity 9200 Plus (or 9200+) will be unleashed as the OEM's latest top-end processor. The SoC might be a flagship refresh on paper, yet is now allegedly imbued with the power to unseat the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 as the world's most powerful mobile platform nonetheless.
According to its latest Geekbench 6 leaks, the 9200+ has 4 ARMv8 cores clocked at 2GHz, augmented by 3 more at 3GHz and 1 last 'performance' core with a top speed of a whopping 3.35GHz: nearly as fast of that of the 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy. This configuration's single-core scores beat those linked to the next crop of 8 Gen 2-powered smartphones on the benchmark, with both sets of results now confidently cracking 2000 in these terms.
Furthermore, the prolific tipster Digital Chat Station claims to have run across another example of the 9200+ with unprecedented results of 2121 and 5655 in single- and multi-core scores respectively. All of these class-leading results are courtesy of a single rumored Android 13 device thus far.
This "vivo V2302A" - the same model number recently spotted giving the AnTuTu Benchmark a similar beating - is now slated to launch as the iQOO Neo8 Pro, the world's first Dimensity 9200+ smartphone (as emphatically hinted by the brand itself).
If so, it is to be hoped that it will also be the first new Neo-series flagship to see a full global launch this time around, the closest thing thus far having been the international version of the Neo7 SE now available on Amazon.in.
