Galaxy Unpacked | Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy debuts exclusive to the S23 series
Qualcomm has indeed collaborated with Samsung to launch the Galaxy S23, S23+ and S23 Ultra with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy. This "accelerated" version of the silicon puts every other Android smartphone that has laid claim to the same new top-end processor thus far at a disadvantage - on paper, at least.
The hardware partners have now confirmed that the 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy can achieve a speed of up to 3.36GHz, compared to 3.2GHz for the 'standard' version.
Qualcomm has also indicated that the newer variant contains a "ray-tracing-capable" Adreno 740 GPU of "significant" improvements in terms of battery conservation and performance compared to its vanilla counterpart, although the company did not go into the details behind this claim with us, unfortunately.
Otherwise, the 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy has the same in-built X70 5G modem, FastConnect 6900 module for Wi-Fi 7 support and "Cognitive" ISP as any other.
The S23 series is also now touted to unlock all of the processor's potential, Qualcomm 3D Sonic for their "acoustic-based" fingerprint recognition, Snapdragon Smart for "groundbreaking" integrated AI and Snapdragon Gaming with support for Unreal Engine 5 Metahumans Framework included.
Therefore, interested Samsung enthusiasts can finally get at the long-anticipated 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy as S23-series units go to pre-order through channels such as Amazon.com imminently.
