The Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23 Plus and Galaxy S23 Ultra should be the first smartphones to support Google Fast Pair for smartphones. Pictures now show how this new feature should work in practice and how it simplifies transferring accounts, data and other details to a new smartphone.

Mishaal Rahman has demonstrated how Google Fast Pair for smartphones works, a new feature that will debut with the Galaxy S23 series. For reference, 9to5Google found references to the feature last week in a recent Google Play Services update. However, the website was unable to provide any screenshots or images of the revised Google Fast Pair in action.

Now, Rahman has got the feature working on a Google Pixel 7 and has shared photos of it could simplify the set-up process going forwards on Android smartphones. Supposedly, a smartphone running Google Fast Pair will cause a pop-up to appear on a nearby smartphone, mirroring the functionality for accessories like the Pixel Buds Pro. From there, the new smartphone will show a QR code that your old smartphone can scan to begin the transfer process.

Unsurprisingly, Google Play Services will seek biometric or PIN verification, which should prevent unwanted data transfers. The set-up then runs automatically, although some OEMs may require extra steps. For example, Samsung will prompt people to install its Smart Switch app. Overall, Google Fast Pair for smartphones should simplify device discovery when switching between smartphones, although Rahman notes that it will not alter the existing transfer process in other areas. While the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23 Plus and Galaxy S23 Ultra will be the first smartphones to support the Google Fast Pair, it will also be headed to the likes of the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro, among other devices.
