Xiaomi may have unveiled MIUI 14 in mid-December, but it has taken a while for the company to bring the update to many devices. For example, Xiaomi has still not announced a global rollout yet, despite moving onto its second release batch in China.
Now, Xiaomi has commenced updating the Xiaomi Pad 5. As always, Xiaomi has begun updating devices in China, which it keeps on a dedicated distribution channel. Incidentally, Xiaomiui reports that the Xiaomi Pad 5 should start receiving MIUI 14 in April elsewhere, with V14.0.1.0.TKXMIXM and V14.0.1.0.TKXEUXM readied for MIUI's Global and EU branches, respectively.
In comparison, Xiaomi has pushed V14.0.4.0.TKXCNXM in China, a 4 GB update. As we discussed in December, MIUI 14 brings numerous design optimisations from MIUI 13, such as virtual pets and plants that can be placed on the home screen. Additionally, Xiaomi has added 'Super Icons' and promises to have improved battery life with performance refinements to boot. Please see our MIUI 14 launch article for more details about MIUI 14 and how it differs from MIUI 13.
