ZTE has presented the Nubia Pad 3D at MWC 2023, which appears to be a standard tablet at first glance. However, the device has a few unusual elements, as its name suggests. Specifically, the Nubia Pad 3D can recreate 3D effects without glasses thanks to its Diffractive Lightfield Backlighting (DLB) layer within its display. According to ZTE, it has sourced the DLB layer from Leia Inc, which announced its 3D Lightfield technology last year.

Supposedly, the Nubia Pad 3D will create 3D effects without any set-up or prior knowledge of how 3D Lightfield technology works. ZTE adds that the tablet can convert 2D content to 3D in real-time, with the front-facing sensors detecting your position and adjusting the 3D effect accordingly. For reference, the Nubia Pad 3D has dual 8 MP cameras above its display and dual 16 MP cameras on its rear. Both sets of cameras can create 3D photos and videos too.
Elsewhere, the Nubia Pad 3D has a 12.4-inch and 16:10 IPS display that outputs at 2,560 x 1,600 pixels with a 120 Hz refresh rate. Additionally, ZTE has included a Snapdragon 888 SoC, a 9,700 mAh battery that supports 33 W fast charging and 128 GB or 256 GB of storage. The tablet will ship with Android 13 too, although it is unclear how much RAM will be available. Nubia Pad 3D pre-orders will open on March 23 and will begin shipping on April 11. ZTE has not announced pricing yet but more details can be found on its website.
