Xiaomi has revealed that it took less than an hour for it to sell more than 350,000 smartphones belonging to the new Redmi Note 12 series. Surprisingly, the Redmi Note 12 series is decidedly more unpopular than the Redmi Note 11 series, which garnered over 500,000 sales during the same period.

Xiaomi may have only released the Redmi Note 12 series in China, but it claims to have already sold a truckload of them. At launch, the Redmi Note 12 series consists of four models, plus a special edition of the Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus called the Redmi Note 12 Racing Edition. Incidentally, it has recently emerged that the Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus will arrive in India as the Xiaomi 12i HyperCharge on account of its 120 W fast charging.

According to Xiaomi, it has already sold 350,000 units since the series' official launch on October 31. Unfortunately, Xiaomi does not provide a breakdown of these figures or any evidence supporting this assertion. For context, the Redmi Note 12 series starts at CNY 1,199 (~US$165) for the entry-level Redmi Note 12 5G. However, the Redmi Note 12 Pro Discovery Edition retails for CNY 2,399 (~US$334), while 10,000 Redmi Note 12 Racing Edition units were available for CNY 2,599 (~US$362).

Additionally, it seems that Redmi Note 12 series sales have fallen short of what the Redmi Note 11 series managed a year ago today. To recap, Xiaomi boasted that it had yielded over 500,000 Redmi Note 11 series sales within an hour of its pre-sale period being live. Xiaomi has not yet revealed the turnover from its first hour of Redmi Note 12 series sales, either. In short, Xiaomi has implicitly confirmed that the Redmi Note 12 series is not as popular initially as the outgoing Redmi Note 11 series.
