Kacper Skrzypek has discovered references to an unreleased regional variant of the Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus, a smartphone that Xiaomi revealed last week in China. To recap, the Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus is one of many Redmi Note 12-branded models that Xiaomi has introduced, with the Redmi Note 12, Redmi Note 12 Pro, Redmi Note 12 Pro Discovery Edition and Redmi Note 12 Racing Edition all announced too. Seemingly, Xiaomi plans to revisit its 'HyperCharge' branding again, which it first used in January with the Xiaomi 11i HyperCharge.
As the screenshot below shows, the Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus has a few other variants, including the Racing or Yibo Edition. Additionally, MIUI lists the Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus 5G, likely the device's global variant. Moreover, there is a string for '12i HyperCharge', undoubtedly the successor to the 11i HyperCharge. As such, it seems likely that the Xiaomi 12i HyperCharge will mirror its predecessor by offering 120 W fast charging, which should recharge its 5,000 mAh battery in under 20 minutes. By contrast, the Redmi Note 12 Pro Discovery Edition is capable of recharging its 4,300 mAh in just 9 minutes thanks to 210 W advertised fast charging.
Unfortunately, the association of HyperCharge branding with the Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus implies that Xiaomi will release the Redmi Note 12 Pro Discovery Edition outside China. According to @xiaomiuinet, Xiaomi currently has no plans to release the Redmi Note 12 Pro Discovery Edition globally. Ultimately, we doubt that Xiaomi will keep its new fast-charging capabilities a Chinese-exclusive for long. Assuming the Xiaomi 12i HyperCharge is a direct copy of the Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus, it will arrive with a MediaTek Dimensity 1080 chipset, a 6.67-inch OLED display outputing at 1080p and 120 Hz, a 200 MP primary camera and MIUI 13 based on Android 12, not Android 13.
