Allegedly, Xiaomi is considering bringing the CIVI 2 to market outside China not only as the Xiaomi 12 Lite 5G NE but also the Xiaomi 13 Lite. If correct, it would see Xiaomi offer the same handset across multiple smartphone generations with no internal changes. Currently, the CIVI 2 is one of the only smartphones that features Qualcomm's Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chipset.

Kacper Skrzypek has discovered a new IMEI database listing relating to the CIVI 2, a smartphone that Xiaomi already sells in its home market. Referred to as the Xiaomi 13 Lite, the device carries the model number 2210129SG, with the 'G' suffix identifying it as a device that Xiaomi intends to sell globally. For reference, Xiaomi assigned '2210129SC' to the CIVI 2, which essentially confirms its existence as a Chinese exclusive release.

Incidentally, the Xiaomi 13 Lite has the same model number as the Xiaomi 12 Lite 5G NE, the emergence of which we discussed earlier this month. In other words, the Xiaomi 12 Lite 5G NE and Xiaomi 13 Lite are identical, at least internally. Potentially, Xiaomi could launch the Xiaomi 12 Lite 5G NE later this year; the Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE arrived in September 2021, for example, but did not reach people until October 2021. Alternatively, the Xiaomi 12 Lite 5G NE and Xiaomi 13 Lite may be destined for different markets, such as North America and Europe.

If that is the case, then we would still expect Xiaomi to release the Xiaomi 12 Lite 5G NE before the Xiaomi 13 series debuts globally, with the Xiaomi 13 Lite joining the Xiaomi 13, Xiaomi 13 Pro and Xiaomi 13 Ultra during a dedicated launch event. Whatever happens, the similarity in model numbers between the CIVI 2 and Xiaomi 13 Lite all but confirms that the latter will inherit the former's specifications. Hence, the Xiaomi 13 Lite should eventually launch with the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1, a 120 Hz AMOLED display, a 50 MP primary camera and a 4,500 mAh battery that supports 67 W fast charging, among other features. Xiaomi 13 Lite pricing has yet to leak, but Xiaomi sells the CIVI 2 in China for CNY 2,399 (~US$332), so it should be considerably cheaper than the rest of the Xiaomi 13 series.
