A tablet with a replaceable battery that is waterproof and dustproof at the same time. This unusual description applies to the Samsung Galaxy Tab Active4 Pro, which we recently reviewed in detail.
We found that the heavy and bulky tablet is a good fit for those who work in harsh environments and need a tablet for unusual situations.
For example, you can use the Galaxy tablet with gloves or with the included stylus, which is also water- and dustproof. However, the stylus is also quite thick and the tip quite short, so that it loses contact with the tablet if you hold the pen too flat. As a tablet veteran, Samsung should do better here.
The physical buttons make the tablet comfortable to use, but it is also quite large and the shockproof case, which is very difficult to attach, makes the Tab Active4 Pro even more bulky. But this is something you have to get used to if you want a tablet for the outdoors.
The screen is reasonably bright, but more could have been done here too. The somewhat dull color display is no real fun.
Speaking of fun, the tablet is no real entertainer either. The speaker sound is too thin and the gaming suitability rather mediocre. But the SoC doesn't do a bad job and the Galaxy Tab Active4 Pro (from US$683.99 at amazon.com) is much faster than other outdoor tablets - although the competition is also very small.
Also, don't expect too much from the cameras, but they're acceptable for a tablet and even offer 4K video recording.
Despite its shortcomings, the Samsung Galaxy Tab Active4 Pro earns the rating of "Good" in our review thanks to the many positive and sometimes unusual advantages, such as the possibility of battery-free operation, good tracking capabilities (even in the Wi-Fi model) and the range of accessories available.
