In addition to the rugged Galaxy XCover 7 Pro smartphone, Samsung has also introduced a new rugged tablet called the Galaxy Tab Active 5 Pro. It’s the successor to the Galaxy Tab Active 4 Pro from 2022 and offers several improvements, even compared to the more compact Galaxy Tab Active 5.
Samsung Galaxy Tab Active 5 Pro gets various upgrades
Just like its predecessor, the new Galaxy Tab Active 5 Pro sports a 10.1-inch LC display, which is two inches larger than the sleeker Galaxy Tab Active 5 and features a WUXGA resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels and a refresh rate of 120Hz.
The display’s peak brightness has been increased to 600 nits, which is practical for outdoor usage. The latest Samsung tablet further comes with the S Pen included in the box, and the South Korean tech giant asserts that the Galaxy Tab Active 5 Pro is now easier to use with gloves.
Under the hood, it now features a larger 10,100mAh battery that can be partly removed while the device is running. Furthermore, the Samsung tablet is powered by the quicker Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 3, 5G connectivity for sub-6GHz networks and dual SIM are onboard as well. Additionally, the Galaxy Tab Active 5 Pro comes with WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4 and a GNSS module for GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, BeiDou and QZSS. The upgraded stereo speakers support Dolby Atmos, while the cameras now have a resolution of 12MP (main) and 8MP (selfie).
All of this is packed into a particularly robust chassis, which is certified according to MIL-STD-810H and should survive drops, extreme temperatures and vibrations. It’s also water and dust resistant according to IP68, while Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+ protects the display from scratches.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab Active 5 Pro is primarily intended for professional use, but of course, the tablet might also be well-suited for outdoor enthusiasts.
Price and availability of the Samsung Galaxy Tab Active 5 Pro
The suggested retail price starts at €809, and there are two storage variants to choose from. 6GB RAM with 128GB storage and 8GB RAM with 256GB storage. The mass storage can be expanded via microSD, and Samsung’s new tablet is expected to launch this month.
