The upcoming Samsung Galaxy Tab A9 series has been found to have a vanilla variant. This plain A9 has joined the inaugural Plus version on the NBTC database, which confirms their respective names and model numbers.
Accordingly, the Galaxy Tab A9 is the SM-X115, whereas the Tab A9 Plus (or A9+) has the SM-X216 identifier from its FCC leak. On that note, the former has also paid a visit to that regulator, which includes live images suggesting a very conventional Samsung tablet build (with potentially less than stellar viewing angle)s. It also now seems that both the Tab A9 and A9+ will have USB-C ports for 15W charging, not to mention 3.5mm jacks.
However, it seems that the A9 will be the smallest tablet of its series by far, with a 210.7x124.7mm footprint and a battery that, with a rated capacity of 5,100mAh as per UL testing, would not be much bigger than that of the average smartphone of similar specs.
On that note, the SM-X115 has also shown up on Geekbench in a further leak that hints at the same Android 13-based OS and 4GB RAM as the A9+. However, it has a different, possibly Qualcomm, SoC with 6 cores clocked at 2GHz and 2 more at 2.2GHz.
Those are specs associated with any number of Snapdragon processors, most recently the 4 Gen 2. However, the A9 is now slated to support 4G/LTE, as opposed to an upgrade to 5G in its Plus counterpart. Accordingly, whatever silicon it gets, it is almost certain to cost even less than the upcoming new Tab A-series flagship.
