ONYX BOOX is now selling the Magellan 5, a new E-reader that borrows its name from 15th and 16th-century Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan. According to the company, it has equipped the 170 x 117 x 8.7 mm and 182 g device with an unnamed quad-core chipset that operates at 2 GHz. Additionally, the E-reader has 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage on which to store thousands of eBooks.
As always, the Magellan 5 supports MicroSD card expansion too, should you need more storage. Moreover, the E-reader has a 6-inch E Ink Carta Plus display that operates natively at 1,448 x 1,072 pixels and can show 16 shades of grey. Also, ONYX BOOX complements the comparatively high-resolution panel with a MOON Light 2 front light that can adjust colour temperature as well.
Furthermore, the company has included a Snow Field function to reduce the chance of particle effects occurring when you partially refresh the display.
