Huawei essentially offers its own operating system with EMUI, a modified ROM based on Android. Evidently, the company’s decision to use such an operating system is not completely by choice. Huawei has now released the updated operating system globally, rolling out EMUI 15 to international users for the first time. Specifically, users of the Mate X6 can now upgrade to this new version of the operating system, which promises new features and enhancements. However, it is currently unclear when EMUI 15 will be coming to other devices. Huawei has yet to provide any roll-out plan regarding specific regions or devices.
The improvements introduced in EMUI 15 can be gleaned from the features on the Huawei Mate X6. However, we can’t assume that every single one of these enhancements will make it to all devices running EMUI 15. This is because, as a foldable, the Mate X6 can practically also function like a small tablet. The new version of EMUI offers interactive lock screen themes. One such theme allows users to swirl emojis around by shaking the phone, whilst another features a simple basketball game. A third interactive theme shows a visual representation of the current weather. An absolutely useful addition: EMUI can use AI to detect when someone else is looking at the device and then hide notifications, helping to protect the user's privacy, especially in public spaces.
